About IFATSEA
The International Federation of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Associations (IFATSEA) was founded to represent and promote the professional interests of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel worldwide. The Federation officially came into being following a series of meetings, culminating in an inaugural Assembly in Frankfurt in October 1972. Initially, ten countries were represented: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Israel, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
IFATSEA’s primary objective is the recognition of Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel by national and international aviation bodies. From its early days, the Federation sought to achieve this by producing a professional journal and advocating for the amendment of ICAO Annex 1.
Over the years, IFATSEA has grown steadily: by the early 1980s, membership had doubled, and the Federation was formally recognized by organizations such as ICAO, ILO, and EUROCAE. By 1992, IFATSEA represented professionals in 36 countries, and today it has expanded to 50 affiliated countries, continuing to support, connect, and represent Air Traffic Safety Electronics Personnel across the globe.
